This very large painting of 4’x5’ feet was begun sitting in a car with a friend sketching these trees. Across the street from the trees was the home of Martha Stewart’s ex lol! He’s long since moved away by now. I am in love with massive old maples and when I get the chance I draw and paint them. They are hundreds of years old, and just get better and better with age. The drawing became a painting or two but this one was the first. It used to be green, but I prefer it in snow so you can see the beautiful architecture of the trees. The painting used to have horses which I pained out, in favor of the distant hersdman bringing in his oxen from outside…thus “heading home”.
