The stream in the swale of the field snakes toward the old homeplace and is the recipient of the snow melt, too. The old homeplace is where the grandma lived until she died. Other Ferris family homes are across the road from this and up the hill behind the viewer. A few years ago, Mike Ferris’ father took me on a ride in his horse drawn sled across the snowy field. it was a bit bumpy so I got off and walked back to the barn. It was pretty exciting! He had two black work horses and some Morgans too. The land drops off dramatically beyond the old farmhouse, and a few acres of more plateau dropping down to RT 12A on Thresher Rd.
