Oil on linen; 48×60”

This is another 4x5’ painting in which I wanted to feel the size and height of the mountainside. There were a few grazing cows, but in my mind the subject is the land itself and how it lofts up to the distance. A few ancient maples edge the pasture and in the distance up the hill are more of them. Mike took me up there in his pick up so i could see what was up there. We ended up almost behind another farm and it became clear to me how farms I saw from another road was backed up to this one. The area around here is simply beautiful everywhere you look.
