This view caught my eye on the way to Barnard one sunny fall day. The blue smoke curling out of the old chimney charmed me. I had to keep going and could’t stop to look more, but I came back and spent some time with it. The light as I saw it the first time, was hard or impossible to replicate, but not in my mind’s eye. It was a good deal of fun painting this one, with the old house that was more likely by an old dirt road back in the day, but now next to a black top with bright yellow and white lines. I’m glad I painted it when i did, because whoever has it now, cut down all the brush and is rehabbing the place. Alas! it is losing its charm! It did need work, and maybe now it will live another 150 years.
