Columbia Maneuvering for the Start with the Shamrock II
The composition of this one was particularly interesting for me. This series of America Cup paintings were done from black and white photos from the National Archives. They are historical paintings with the skies and water, color and some altering of compositions by me. The water and skies were often hard to decipher in the old photos, but the ships and crew were clear as day and easy to see. I grew up on the water, so the painting of the skies and water with just a few indications from the photos was great fun, and allowed me to use my imagination.
