The Jubilee is a famous America Cup racer that is moving very fast in heavy seas in this painting. It was clear from the old photo it was in heavy seas, but the water was not very clear, so as usual, a good bit was painted from my imagination. it has no topsail up..I could imagine if it had been up, it might have been keeled completely over! I was caught up in the power of the movement in this painting and the strong graphic quality of the dark waters and brilliant sails.
